And then God spoke.
I know what you are wondering, “What does God’s voice sound like?” For me, it sounded like a Czech accent with a thick blend of Spanish, but still speaking English. It was the voice of a dear friend and pastoral trainer whom I’ve known for a decade. And the words he spoke (as if from God to me) were, “We desperately need this!”
My friends, it may be impossible for me to describe to you how my heart lifted but I’ll try. As many of you know, I’m working on my doctorate at Dallas Theological Seminary. I’m still in Costa Rica, but travel twice a year to Dallas. I’ve just finished my first year and have two years to go, and the volume and intensity of the work are what you might expect. But more than once I’ve questioned if it mattered. So when my friend responded to the research direction I’ve taken, it was an encouragement like no other.
In addition, we continue to do many of the things we have always done. Next Saturday we have a group of church leaders coming to The Brook Training Center for a workshop for Sunday School teachers. By the way, prayers for Angela as she presents a lesson on child behavior in Spanish.
I have six preaching opportunities in April, plus a meeting with ten of the top formal and non-formal pastor training leaders who are coming together to assist in my research. I’m so grateful for the Kingdom spirit which exists between so many different organizations, including top seminaries, pastor training ministries, and denominations.
Please also pray for Matrix Ministries. They will be coming to Costa Rica in April, and for the first time they are going direct to their destination without The Brook Ministries! We are so proud of how far they have developed as a ministry. We will be here to help if we are needed, but we are excited that the relationship we introduced them to years ago has become so intimate and personal that they can just come down on their own. Absolutely beautiful Kingdom work.
