This July and August brought a heavy schedule that saw two training events at The Brook and two church mission teams visiting literally back-to-back. It was a demanding schedule that required a lot of advanced planning and kept us busy, but we are grateful for all that was accomplished.
The first group, Grace Baptist Church, from Tennessee, served in Atenas. The team of 16 was involved in school visits, home visits, youth outreach, women’s ministry, and construction (installing new fans and some painting).
They did an amazing job and were a delight to host. Special thanks to Helen Smith for housing three of the couples as our place was full!
A day after Grace Baptist left, the team of 5 from Matrix Ministries in Texas arrived. They had a grueling schedule with five construction days at Iglesia Bíblica Labrador in Labrador de San Mateo. It was a tough week of concrete and steel, working alongside pastors Juan Carlos and Oscar, and Oscar’s brother-in-law Orlando.
As always, the Matrix team delivered, accomplishing more than we thought was possible. The work is not finished yet, but hopefully it will be completed by local workers with financial help from The Brook Ministries donors.
