Even though the temperature climbed and the breeze faltered, our multi-national team got the job done. With our visitors from the US here and ready to work, along with one local volunteer and our Tico team from Grecia, work was completed on the concrete stairs and the new fire pit.

Exhausted, the team still had energy enough to try out the new axe throwing targets. After many competitions, Pastor Oscar emerged as the clear champion.

Special thanks to Angela for keeping the team fed and hydrated. And thanks to Smith & Wesson for some cool throwing axes and knives.
Below are a few more pics from the two day project.

Hi, my wife and I moved from the States to Atenas several weeks ago and looking for a church family to worship and serve with. We have gone to Santa Anna a couple of times where there is a wonderful English speaking fellowship. However, at this time I only have a motorcycle and would rather not travel there with my wife on hwy. 27. I think your ministry is centered somewhere near Atenas. Do you have a Sunday worship service that we might be welcomed to attend? If so, could you please furnish me with the time and address? Thank you very much and God bless you in your work for our Lord! Larry & Mary Beth
Larry and Mary Beth,
Welcome to Atenas! We normally host a Wednesday night Bible study each week at our place at 5 pm. However, for the holiday, we are having a Christmas Eve service on Tuesday evening at 6 pm. Our Wednesday service will resume on January 8, 2025, at 5 pm. You are welcome to attend. We are just north of Highway 3, on the road heading to Santa Eulalia (or Palmares), called 135. You can find us on Waze by searching The Brook Ministries.
As for Sundays, usually once per month we have a bilingual service as part of the Iglesia Biblica de Atenas (in front of the flashing light on Highway 3) at 10 AM. But again, this is once per month and the dates vary. You can stay up-to-date on those dates by following “Atenas New Community” on Facebook.
Unfortunately, because of our ministry obligations (we train pastors and assist churches throughout Costa Rica), we do not host a weekly service in English. Santa Ana is the closest service, and there is also Horizon Church in Jaco that we can recommend.
