I wish I could sit down with every one of you who pray for us, encourage us, visit us and support us financially. I’d pour you a cup of amazing coffee, and look you in the eye and remind you that God has a great plan. We never need to be afraid or worried. Instead, He calls us to move forward in faith.
It was a little over seven years ago when we did just that. I’ll never forget that October 6, when I walked out of Grace Community Church, having resigned my position to step out in faith to start The Brook. We had no money, and the only plan we had was the kind you typically see drawn on a napkin. But we had a calling. And within three months we had raised the funds we needed to carry us through the first few years. It was an incredible moment, and one I look back on often.
In that time we have built an arsenal of assets including a cement mixer, a welder, beds and tables and chairs, a 4×4 ATV and trailer, our ministry van, and most importantly hundreds of people who know us and know what we do.
We have trained hundreds of pastors, in both conferences and in one-on-one consulting times. We have been invited to speak before a wide variety of churches and other institutions. We have hosted mission teams to build four church buildings among the Ticos, and two with the Cabecar, not to mention other projects that have included concrete (lots of concrete), and furniture, and walls, and so much more.
When I see what God has been doing through The Brook, it makes me willing to take on making the impossible, possible.
