August got off to a great start for The Brook. As the month began, we already had a small mission team in the country from Matrix Ministries. They had come to participate in a building project and to visit previous and future partners scattered across the nation. (Read more about their work here and here.)

Less than a week after their departure, we hosted a group of 15 pastors who were meeting to discuss the future of ministry in Costa Rica.

Covid continues to be the biggest barrier to ministry. Vaccinations are being distributed to all citizens and legal residents age 12 and up. Driving restrictions have loosened up some but still pose a problem. And pandemic fatigue weighs heavy on all of us, especially when we hear of our friends dying suddenly.

But our faith has not wavered at all. We know the Lord has us here for a reason, and we are grateful for every opportunity to serve pastors and their churches.
